Serena Williams Debate Is She the Best Female Athlete

admin no comments

Serena Williams is sparking a sports-wide debate over her place in history. Is she the greatest female athlete of all time and if she isn’t what factors are working against her, real or imaginary? Being a female, black and with an attitude? Sports Illustrated writer Jon Wertheim said this,“I consider her achievements, her mental strength, her power, her (terminally underrated) court smarts, her longevity and the overall arc of her career and I reach the conclusion that she is the greatest of all time — a claim I made in 2010 and have gotten grief for ever since. No question in my mind: she is the greatest living female athlete. That she has played (check that: lived) independent of the establishment and conventional thinking makes her all the more admirable. I have no doubt that I will be telling my grandchildren about her.”Jon added, “I’ve long said that one of the real challenges of covering this sport is covering the Williams sisters, Serena in particular. There is so much complexity and contradiction. And, of course, there is the ever-present patina/prism of race. And let’s be clear: anyone who denies the element of race lives in a land of dragons and unicorns and stable ozone layers.”ESPN also took a stab at the debate. September Storm Triggers Housing Shortage at Camp Lejeune

first_img Dan Cohen AUTHOR Atlantic Marine Corps Communities (AMCC), which manages most of the housing at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, N.C., has begun terminating leases for non-active-duty families and stopped accepting newly stationed personnel to help alleviate a severe shortage of habitable units after hundreds of homes at the installation were damaged by Hurricane Florence, reports Military.com. Seventy percent of the company’s housing inventory in North Carolina — which includes Camp Lejeune, Marine Corps Air Station New River and MCAS Cherry Point — received some level of damage during the September storm which dumped several feet of rain over eastern North Carolina. “As of today, we have more than 800 military families who have either relocated to a home within the AMCC housing community, are scheduled to relocate to a home, have been placed in temporary lodging or will be placed in temporary lodging while repairs are performed on their home,” according to a statement from Lendlease, which controls AMCC. Samsung Galaxy A50 costs 350 and has three rear cameras available June

admin no comments

first_img Turo The Galaxy A50 has three rear cameras. Samsung Samsung’s A-series of midrange phones have three new members: the Galaxy A50, A20 and A10E. If you want a new Galaxy phone, these are some of your cheapest options, sitting just above Samsung’s entry-level Galaxy J line. The A-series is much cheaper than a top tier Galaxy phone. The Galaxy S10 Plus, for instance, costs $1,000 and the supposedly upcoming Galaxy Fold (Samsung delayed its launch due to a number of screen issues on its pre-production units) is priced at nearly $2,000.The most advanced of the new trio is the Galaxy A50, which we got an early glimpse  of in February at MWC 2019. It costs $350 and features a 6.4-inch display, a 4,000-mAh battery and 64GB of built-in storage with the option to expand up to 512GB. On the back are three cameras, which includes a wide-angle lens as well as a “depth lens,” which is used to take portrait shots with blurry, dramatic backgrounds. The $250 Galaxy A20 has a 6.4-inch screen, a 13-megapixel rear camera and the same 4,000-mAh battery as the A50. Lastly, the cheapest of the bunch of the Galaxy A10E. At $180, it features a 5.83-inch display, an 8-megapixel camera and a 3,000-mAh battery. Both of the phones have just 32GB of onboard memory, but you can expand storage with a microSD card (not included). All three phones run Android 9.0, with Samsung’s new One UI layered on top. Though exact availability dates for the Galaxy A20 and A10E have not been released, the Galaxy A50 will be available on June 13. In addition to this, the general category students will have to pay Rs 300 for an extra subject instead of the initial Rs 150 they were expected to pay. This is the first hike in five years. The cost of exams for students belonging to the SC & ST community was Rs 350. They were asked to pay Rs 50 and the Delhi government covered the difference. However, now they will be asked to pay Rs 1,200.”The increase is after a gap of five years. Gunfight is not solution TIB

first_img.Transparency International Bangladesh has expressed grave concern over the deaths of over hundred ‘drug dealers’ in the countrywide anti-narcotic drive. The anti-corruption watchdog also demanded judicial investigation into the deaths. It said that the explanation given by the law-enforcement forces on the ‘gunfight’ is questionable. The organisation made the demand in a statement issued on Thursday. It said that there is fear of protecting constitutional rights of the citizens as using excessive force is getting support from the government.  It said that this is creating risk of institutionalising the use of excessive force by the law enforcement.“The constitution preserves the rights for every citizen to justice. There is a question as to whether the on-going anti-narcotic drive based on the list prepared by so-called intelligence information is acceptable legally or not. Besides, before being convicted under the legal process, the way the listed people are being killed is completely unconstitutional,” TIB executive director Iftekharuzzaman said in a statement. He said that there are some allegations that innocent people become victims of vindictiveness. The TIB executive director said that gunfight has not been proved an effective way anywhere in the world to control narcotics or any other crime.“The way the culture of using excessive force, bypassing the existing laws is getting patronage can be a threat to the human rights situation of the country,” he said.He said that the way the law enforcement agencies are given licence to violate laws, it is a bad signal for justice, the rule of law and democracy of the country.      At least 130 people were killed and thousands detained in the last two weeks in a countrywide anti-narcotics crackdown. Law enforcement officials said that all who have been killed are drug dealers and they were killed in gunfights.Read more :Alleged gunfights kill 13 more, death toll rises to 130Yet another 12 killed, toll from drive rises to 117Philippines-style crackdown in Bangladesh raises concernslast_img read more

Netflix’s free cash flow in Q3 was -$859 million (compared with -$465 million in the year-earlier quarter). For full year 2018, the company expects free cash flow will be closer to -$3 billion than to -$4 billion, and that negative free cash flow in 2019 will be roughly flat with this year.In addition to its rising debt load, Netflix has billions in off-balance-sheet content-spending obligations mostly due within the next five years. As of Sept. 30, 2018, the company had $18.6 billion of obligations, which includes $10.2 billion due in one year or beyond.“We recognize we are making huge cash investments in content, and we want to assure our investors that we have the same high confidence in the underlying economics as our cash investments in the past,” Netflix said in its Oct. 16 letter to shareholders. “These investments we see as very likely to help us to keep our revenue and operating profits growing for a very long time ahead.”According to Netflix, for the $2 billion in new debt (the principal amount which may change), the interest rate, redemption provisions, maturity date and other terms will be determined by negotiations between the company and the initial purchasers.
