Adityanath allots land to 281 persons affected by Sonbhadra killings

admin no comments

first_imgUttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday handed out land documents to 281 persons in Sonbhadra district, two months after 11 tribals of a local village were killed over a long-standing land dispute. Mr. Adityanath allotted the lease of 852 bighas of land to the beneficiaries at a function in Umbha village, where a village head and his associates opened fired at the villagers on July 17.Taking a dig at Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, who had raised the issue of the killings and sought to blame the State government, Mr. Adityanath said he wanted to “ask the Congress ki shehzadi (princess)” if she would apologise to the poor in Sonbhadra for the “injustice” suffered by its tribals under various Congress governments since 1952. Faced with heavy criticism over the Umbha incident, the State’s BJP government has sought to pin the blame on previous Congress administrations.“Will she [Ms. Vadra] seek punishment for those who looted the rights of the poor,” Mr. Adityanath asked in Umbha, where he initiated 35 projects worth ₹340 crore.By distributing the land leases to locals, the BJP government was restoring their rights that were snatched away during Congress party rule, he asserted. This was his second visit to the affected village since July 17, as the BJP looks to contain political fallout from the incident.Mr. Adityanath alleged that more than 1 lakh bighas of land were grabbed in just Sonbhadra and Mirzapur districts during the rule of the SP, BSP and Congress. An SIT probing the matter would submit its report to the government soon, the chief minister said, promising that nobody would be spared. A new tehsil would be formed in Sonbhadra, while a police post and Kasturba Girls School would also be established in Umbha village, Mr. Adityanath said.To cover those who had not been included under the Ayushman Bharat Scheme in Umbha, 510 Ayushman Bharat golden cards were issued at the gram panchayat and 210 golden cards were being issued under the Chief Minister’s Jan Arogya Yojana, the U.P. government said.A solar mini drinking water project worth ₹23.5 crore was also initiated in the village, while 292 families would be provided houses under the Mukhyamantri Awaas Yojana.last_img read more

Remember Where You Parked With the Google Maps App

admin no comments

first_imgApril 27, 2017 Ever have a mini panic attack because you couldn’t remember where you parked your car? You may never have to live through that frustrating situation again, thanks to Google. The company on Tuesday introduced a new Google Maps feature for iOS and Android that will help you remember where you parked. On Android (pictured above), tap the blue dot and press “Save your parking” to add your spot to the map. From there, you’ll see a label on the map identifying where you left your car. You can tap that label to add additional details like the exact spot number, an image of your parking spot and the amount of time before the meter expires. The app will even give you a reminder 15 minutes before your meter expires, if you enter this information. You can also send your parking location to friends. The experience is similar on iOS: just tap the blue dot and select “Set as parking location.” From there, you can tap on the parking label to share it with friends or view photos of your parking area.Google Maps for iOS also offers an automatic parking detection feature that should make things even easier, should you choose to set it up. Connect the app to your car using USB audio or Bluetooth and your parking spot will be automatically added to the map when you disconnect and exit the vehicle, Google Maps Product Manager Jeff Albertson explained in a blog post. The update comes after Google in January introduced a new beta Maps feature that gives you a heads up about the parking situation near your destination, so you can be mentally prepared if parking is limited. The Google-owned traffic and navigation app Waze, meanwhile, has a “where to park” feature that can help you locate a spot, as well as a “where I parked” option.
